I am a running physio working out of Melbourne (see here) and incorporating plyometrics with my athletes is something I not only value, but is highly evidence based! However, plyometrics isn't as simple as "everyone does the same thing" and "one size fits all". There are considerations needed around baseline capacity, injury history, training history, athlete goals, competition timing, starting volume/complexity.. and much more. All runners who are interested in commencing a plyometrics program to improve their performance should consider a performance testing assessment, and also have a program set up by an appropriately qualified running physio or S&C coach.
I have recently published a highly detailed, evidence based plyometrics article in the Strength and Conditioning Journal (see below), and have also included 5 other excellent plyometrics articles I recommend people reading if interested in upskilling on plyometrics, or incorporating plyos into their routines.
